I sometimes felt like a sort of “Ecclesiastical Graphic Artist,” doing large amounts of design work for churches, parochial schools, and other church entities. I enjoy the special challenges that this sort of design work brings.

Should the logo just involve attractive type and a cross? (No.) Can “church art” be contemporary? (Yes.) How do you fight the widely-held belief that bad church clip art is good enough? (I’ll get back to you on that one.)

However, as much as I am creatively challenged by those “ecclesiastical questions,” I also love designing yearbook covers, or creating a chicken “mascot” for cluckbucket.com, or designing art and packaging for CDs. Regardless of the nature of the project, I always want to provide creative choices; clean, high-quality design; and clear communication of the message.
