Everywhere I Go I See You - chrisroth

The photos in this series are all paired with a passage from Scripture. However, instead of intentionally looking for photographic subjects that will communicate a scriptural truth, I’ve taken the opposite approach. I meditate on images I’ve shot and look for the Word of God to emerge. It’s a little theological puzzle of sorts.

God is not just present in cathedrals, sunsets, and butterflies. God does not just speak through prophets, priests, and kings. And so I’ve seen God in desert ruins. I’ve heard the Word of God emerge from protests in Chicago. I’ve felt God’s truth in a radio tower in Berlin.

I hope that these images will surprise, delight, and challenge you. But most of all, I pray that they will help you to see God’s presence in this world.

Ezekiel 37:1-6

Ezekiel 37:1-6

“The hand of the Lord came upon me, and he brought me out by the spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me all around them; there were very many lying in the valley, and they were very dry. He said to me, ‘Mortal, can these bones live?’ I answered, ‘O Lord God, you know.’ Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. I will lay sinews on you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord.’”
