On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man suspected of passing a counterfeit $20 bill, was murdered in Minneapolis after a white police officer pressed his knee to Floyd's neck for almost nine minutes. Three other officers stood by and did not intervene. These images, taken later in the week along Lake Street and 38th & Chicago, show some of the aftermath of that senseless killing: protests, riots, destruction, looting, memorials, and glimmers of hope. What they don't show is what will hopefully be the legacy of what happened to George Floyd: change.
